Concept
This was a university project focused on designing a "Maison de Maître”. A grand, historically upper-class residence, located in Sidi Bou Saïd, a well-known coastal village on Tunisia's northern coast and famous for its distinctive blue and white architecture, arched doorways, and Andalusian Moorish influences. With no budget constraints imposed on the project, the focus shifted away from cost trade-offs and toward exploring what genuine luxury means in a residential space, through material choice, spatial layout, and architectural detail.
A central challenge was translating Sidi Bou Saïd's traditional architectural language, including its characteristic arches, iron latticework, ceramic tile work, and whitewashed facades, into a home that still felt modern and livable, rather than simply replicating historical style.
The project became an exercise in balancing authenticity to the region's heritage with contemporary architectural and interior design choices.
